Energy monitoring made easy

Air conditioning units must also make their contribution to the energy transition and, consequently, should be operated as efficiently as possible.

Naturally enough, this is taken into account in the design phase, and proof must be provided that the prescribed efficiency values are achieved.

But is this still the case later during operation over many years? Does the operator have reliable data on how much energy a unit consumes (or even conserves through heat recovery)? Can an operator determine at a glance whether there are problems because energy consumption is increasing due to a creeping deterioration in efficiency or significantly changed usage requirements?

In order to achieve the necessary transparency for the operator, we now provide all our units with an integrated control function with the etaWatch® system. etaWatch® could be translated simply as "efficiency monitoring".

etaWatch® thus involves the energetic monitoring of the air handling unit and is integrated into our control system.

Values required for the calculation are recorded via various sensors and data points and stored in the controller log file. Current consumption, annual energy consumption, various efficiency levels and any deviations from setpoints are determined from these values.

On an overview page, this data is compared in an easily understandable manner (in the form of traffic lights) with the values measured during commissioning. Any deviations are then indicated by a change in the traffic light colour. Control loops for temperatures are also displayed as traffic lights, depending on the deviation from the configured or calculated setpoint.

In this way, energy data, efficiency levels and deviations can be recorded quickly and easily and analysed at a glance for energy-related consideration and evaluation of the air handling unit.

etaWatch® - the levels

The customer can choose between different accuracy levels.

etaWatch® lite:

Consumption, performance data and efficiency levels are determined using the available fan performance data , as well as with temperature, humidity and pressure sensors. This package is standard for all HANSA units with an integrated control and Saia DDC on offer from February 2021.

etaWatch® ADVANCED:

In addition to etaWatch® lite, the control cabinet is equipped with a power measurement system. This can be used to reliably record the total electrical power consumption of the unit. This option should be selected in particular for units with integrated mechanical cooling. The power measurement of the hot water coil is achieved via a highly accurate energy volume meter. If a unit is also equipped with a cold water coil, an energy volume meter can also be added as an option for this purpose.

Linking with etaConnect®

Significantly extended data logging is also available in combination with our etaConnect® “Advanced Plus” module. Value comparisons, reporting, alarming, etc. are then very easily achieved in corresponding overviews.
