HANSA is the first company in the industry to offset its operational and product-related emissions and thus offers ventilation units that have been manufactured climate-neutrally.
Climate change represents the greatest challenge facing humanity and is the defining issue of our time. The consequences of global warming are becoming increasingly tangible and the pressure on politicians and companies is growing. There is now a global consensus that we urgently need to counter man-made climate change.
Success in reducing emissions largely depends on voluntary and consistent action by industry in the industrialized countries. We at Hansa Klimasysteme are therefore also prepared to take responsibility for the world we leave to our children and grandchildren.
We are aware of our special responsibility as a company towards future generations and have acted accordingly. Fokus Zukunft GmbH & Co. KG has determined the climate impact of our company for us: Our carbon footprint is approximately 907 tons of CO2 equivalent pollutants per year. To put this into perspective: On average, a person in Germany causes about 11.6 tons of CO2 per year with their lifestyle. In addition, in a further step we had the product-related emissions of our entire product range, from raw material production to our own factory gate, determined on the basis of market-related secondary emission factors. In total, approximately 6,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalent pollutants are emitted per year by our company's activities and by our entire product range, including the upstream supply chain up to the factory gate.
Greenhouse gases disperse evenly throughout the atmosphere. It therefore makes sense to avoid emissions where the costs are lowest. In addition, projects in emerging and developing countries help to improve the economic, social and ecological situation and support the implementation of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. For emerging and developing countries, emissions trading is a key driver for the transition to clean technologies and sustainable economic development.
The greenhouse gas balance prepared by Fokus Zukunft provides a transparent overview of our company's greenhouse gas emissions. The report thus forms an important building block in our commitment to climate protection. Based on the values determined and by purchasing a corresponding quantity of climate certificates, our company was made climate neutral. We have received the "climate-neutral company" and "climate-neutral product" awards for offsetting our greenhouse gases.
